The Global Visitor Insurance is issued by a Dutch Insurance Company: Oom Verzekeringen (De Global Visitor verzekering is een product van Oom Verzekeringen) (Oom Insurances) in Rijswijk (The Hague).

The insurance is the solution for a stay within the European Community for a maximum period of 1 year if your age (if you are the insured person) or the age of your visitor is below 70 and

a maximum period of 6 monthes, if your or his or her age is between 70 and 80 years (De verzekering is dè oplossing voor een verblijf binnen de Europese Gemeenschap voor een maximale periode van één jaar als uw gast/bezoeker/familielid jonger dan 70 jaar is dan wel voor een maximale periode van een half jaar als uw bezoeker/gast/familielid tussen de 70 en 80 jaar is.)

If you don't know for what period you will need the insurance, we suggest to take it rather too long than too short

Exclusion of pre-existing ailments and complaints

We pay your attention to the fact that complaints and ailments that already existed on or prior to the inception date of the insurance are not insured and will not qualify for compensation. This does not only concern ailments and/or complaints which you are aware of but also ailments and/or complaints that already existed but were not known to you.

Repatriation (only in case of death or serious illness or injury of the insured person)

a. In case of death of the insured person(s), the insurance covers the costs relating to the transport of the body of the insured to the home country (including the costs of the coffin which is necessary for the transport by virtue of the statutory regulations). There is a maximum compensation for all costs of the transport of the body. (see insurance conditions - ) click here.

b. In case of serious illness or injury of the insured and the repatriation of the insured is medically necessary according to the medical advisor of the company, repatriation is covered if:
- prior permission is given by the company, that takes care of the repatriation;
- repatriation takes place from the insurance location to the Netherlands or to the home country.

Attention: Repatriation in case of death or lifethreatening illness or injury of a relative of first or second degree not travelling with you or your visitor, is not covered on this Global Visitor Insurance

( a first degree relative is spouse, kids, parents (parents-in-law); second degree= grandparents (in-law), brothers (in-law), sisters (in-law) ).

This kind of SOS- risks (and other ones, like recall due to serious damage of property in the country of domicile) can be covered by the Travel Risk Insurance (TRI) issued by Elvia Travel Insurances Netherlands. Our advise: take for the health insurance for your Schengen-visa the Global Visitor Insurance of OOM Verzekeringen and - in case of a age of 69 or less and a stay in Europe of less than 3 monthes - for additional repatriating coverage (like in case of death or lifethreatening illness or injury of a relative of first or second degree in your homecountry, so not travelling relatives with the insured on the Global Visitor policy) the Travel Risk Insurance of Elvia Holland.

Information, premium-calculation and online application of the GlobalVisitor Insurance of Oom Insurance/Informatie, premieberekening en online aanvragen van de Global Visitor Verzekering van Oom Verzekeringen

To have you Schengen-visa in time, applicate the insurance in time according to the acceptance process of the insurance company of 5 days and the time it costs to receive your payment at the Bankaccount of the insurancecompany (Oom Verzekeringen) in the Netherlands. Only when the premium has been received by them, Oom Verzekeringen can and will make the policy. Not earlier. So, applicate for the insurance at least 3 weeks before you want to arrange the Schengenvisa for yourself or for your visitors from abroad, because the Schengen-visa will not be supplied before showing the health- and repatriating insurance).

(Om het Schengen-visum op tijd te verkrijgen, is het verstandig om de verzekering tenminste 3 weken vóór de aanvraag van het visum af te sluiten, daar het visum niet eerder verstrekt wordt, dan dat de polis van de ziektekosten- en repatriëringsverzekering overlegd is. )

For the Schengen-visa the Global Visitor of OOM Insurance is sufficient for a Schengen Visa. Therefore the Elvia insurance is a wishable, but not obliged repatriating insurance.
